This dynamic English-Australian virtuoso violinist brings a sparkle to everything she plays. Our program will include a solo partita and sonata by Bach, and early 17th century Italian music by Castello, Cima, and Mealli.

Tears and Triumphs: Music for the Virgin Queen

The glorious reign of Elizabeth I inspired a golden age for the lute and viol consort.  Combine them with the voice, and the expressivity is unsurpassed. We bring you the passions of love and desolation, joy and tragedy in dances, lute songs, and consorts, with music of Holborne, Byrd, Dowland (including his Lachrymae, or Seaven Teares) and other Elizabethans.

Music and Medicine

We celebrate Rochester’s medical community, as we explore the programmatic intersections of music and medicine. Program will include Marais’ Gall Bladder Operation, Purcell’s Mad Bess, and other works dealing with the humors, madness, and assorted illnesses.

Characters of the Dance
Paige Whitley-Bauguess, baroque dancer, with an instrumental ensemble directed by Julie Andrijeski, violin
Music in motion! Historical dancer Paige Whitley-Bauguess recreates dances of the baroque in all their expressive elegance and technical finesse. Our program will include French dances by Lully and Campra, and a Commedia dell’Arte Suite to music by Schmeltzer. 
Pre-concert talk 45 minutes before the concert. A public workshop is also planned to go along with this concert.
