The Three Ladies
Laura Heimes, Nell Snaidas, sopranos; Hai-Ting Chinn, mezzo-soprano

Centuries before the Three Tenors were The Three Ladies: a name for several ensembles of women singers in 17th century Italy famed for their remarkably virtuosic and passionate singing—the real divas of the day! Composers wrote music especially for them and created a dazzling body of work for women. We welcome back Rochester favorite Laura Heimes with her trio of fabulous singers. Music by Luzzaschi, Monteverdi, Rossi, Carissimi, and others.

The Bard and the Bachelor
Brigitt Markusfeld, actor; Deborah Fox, lute
Let us evoke another era with the perfect combination of words and music, matching the beauty and complexity of Elizabethan poetry with sublime music for solo lute. Shakespeare the bard and John Dowland, known as Bachelor of Musicke and as the most famous lutenist of the time, were born just a year apart and most certainly experienced each other’s works.
