Pegasus Early Music

We are very proud to be presenting our 5th anniversary season! Whether you have been with us since our first season or have just discovered us, we welcome you to our musical family and look forward to sharing this inspiring season with you.  Pegasus continues to make its mark in Rochester with our winning combination of world-class artists, compelling performances, beautiful repertoire and inventive themes, intimate venues, and educational experiences for our audiences. We thank you--our audiences and supporters—for joining us on this thrilling musical journey, as we let the music of the past speak to us today.

Our 5th season of concerts brings fabulous performers and unusual programs. The world-renowned violinist Elizabeth Wallfisch, beloved for her electrifying and charismatic playing, joins us from England for our opening concert. Her exquisite performance of Bach violin works is not to be missed! Soulful renaissance music for viols, lute, and the incomparable voice of soprano Laura Heimes will be our treat in October, as we discover the Tears and Triumphs of the Elizabethan age. Then we’ll celebrate the union of Music and Medicine in Rochester with a concert devoted to the medical arts. And in the spring we will introduce the Characters of the Dance, featuring the spectacular baroque dance master Paige Whitley-Bauguess with a stellar ensemble of baroque musicians.

This season we will explore some different Rochester venues to match the demands of the music—and dance—with better acoustics and seating, and more room for the performers. And, we will be growing our educational mission with afternoon family concerts and interactive workshops---stay tuned for more information!

Bach, Uccellini, Dowland, Purcell, Marais, Campra:
whether or not you are familiar with these composers, we guarantee they will speak to you across the centuries, with infectious dance rhythms, flights of virtuosic fancy, rich sonorities, soaring melodies, and intricate ornaments. Our fabulous performers this season will make this music live for you!
